Position: Transportation Planner / Load Planner
Location: Sebring, FL

About the Job
Turf Care Supply blends a wide variety of turf care products including professional fertilizers, controlled release fertilizers, fertilizers for golf courses, combination products and granular control products. We sell our products through distributors and retailers who sell to professional lawn care companies, golf courses, sports fields, sod farms, and the like.  We operate three strategically located manufacturing facilities in Hatfield, MA, Martins Ferry, OH and Sebring, FL enabling us to provide consistently high quality and service throughout the Northeast, Mid Central, Mid Atlantic and Southern markets. 

Our on-site laboratories offer quick turnaround and the highest quality products under our Grow Star brand or under a company’s own private label. Turf Care Supply provides a comprehensive list of standard products and blends, but can also custom blend products to your specifications. We have been manufacturing and distributing premium quality products to the professional green industry since 1974. In October of 2005, Platinum Equity acquired the manufacturing and distribution assets of Lesco, Inc to form Turf Care Supply Corp. TCSC has an immediate opening for a Transportation Planner / Load Planner at our Sebring, FL location.  Following is a list of job duties for this position: 

Essential Duties

  • Leads the forward planning process to increase direct ships and transfers out of the facility.
  • Coordinates closely with order management, scheduling and customer service to maximize service and freight expense and trailer utilization.
  • Monitor hazardous shipments requirements.
  • Daily review of shippable orders or future orders to establish stop, set up, and load sequencing to ensure timely and efficient delivery of shipments.
  • Determine what shipments need to go LTL.
  • Verified carrier pick up of loaded trailers and scheduled LTL live pick ups.
  • Track/trace shipments and provide delivery confirmation when required.
  • Be a disciplined planner who is results oriented.
  • Control costs using a systematic accounting procedure to carefully review daily, weekly, and monthly pallet costs and take corrective action where necessary.

Address any and all problems that may limit or impair service to customers, sales associates and other departments within the organization.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in appropriate discipline (Economics, Logistics, Engineering) or commensurate experience preferred.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of transportation practices, including transportation rates, zones and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the geographic region preferred.
  • Experience with TMS
  • Requires analytical thinking and thoroughness.

Position: Transportation Manager - Corporate
Location: TurfCare Supply Corp - Brunswick, OH

TCS currently has an opening for a Transportation Manager at the Corporate office. This position will manage the overall Transportation spend for the Company along with overseeing the Transportation Planners at the regional sites. Duties include but not limited to:

  1. Understand service requirements and customer expectations as well as carrier capabilities for domestics inbound/outbound.
  2. Manage carrier base and third party providers. Regularly meet with carriers. Use cost, quality and service metrics to evaluate each carrier's performance. Make changes as required.
  3. Familiarity with transportation contracts and the negotiation of terms and conditions.
  4. Continue to develop and enhance metrics for service quality and cost. Meet or exceed personal department goals set for cost, quality and service.
  5. Develop reports that provide transportation cost and carrier performance.
  6. Provide daily, weekly, monthly support for manufacturing sites relative to transportation inquiries.
  7. Analyze the impact of contract proposals. Provide insight into the financial operational impact of proposed changes versus the current state.
  8. Review freight claim processing. Minimize freight claims. Maximize freight claim collections.
  9. Set expectations/direction, succession planning, provide coaching and training to direct reports.
  10. Manage Transportation Management System (Freight Logic).
  11. Manage and approve freight payments through third party provider, Data 2 Logistics. Research and resolve any freight payment discrepancies.
  12. Manager the fuel surcharge program and update rates through the TMS.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, transportation or business related field and 5-8 years of experience working in logistics, transportation or supply chain (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Able to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated data mining skills utilizing Excel, Access and SQL.
  • Strong working knowledge of carrier operations and costs across all modes including LTL, TL, inter-modal, Parcel, etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills in dealing with employee problems, carrier issues and management concerns.
  • Able to think strategically and operate tactically.

Position:  Regional Sales Managers
Reports To: General Manager, Sales

Location:  US

TurfCare Supply Corp will be expanding its sales team and is currently accepting resumes for Regional Sales Managers in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest. Regional Sales Managers will be responsible for:

Required Skills

  • Develop and execute business plans that will assist in achieving sales objectives and expand customer base and volumes within sales territory
  • Call on accounts to cultivate relationships, identify opportunities and increase sales
  • Develop brand name awareness by expanding portfolio of accounts and by increasing sales to current base of customers
  • Manage and maintain pricing programs to optimize profitability
  • Prepare annual and monthly sales forecasts
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and key TurfCare contacts to provide optimal customer satisfaction
  • Maintain current knowledge of the market environment relative to the industry and specific sales territory
  • Cultivate key account relationships to develop strong channel relationships

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, horticulture or related science
  • 3-5 years relevant sales experience
  • Proven ability to manage territory and operate independently
  • Familiarity of the Turf & Ornamental, Agriculture or Retail market
  • Exceptional customer service skills with proven ability to develop client relationships
  • Demonstrated analytical and reporting capabilities
